I found the history of the people involved with the gangs the most interesting and how it has evolved from various events today
You can be fearful but empathetic about what the people who grow up around these 2 gangs have gone through.... this war is probably not going to stop anytime soon, so you might as well get a perspective on the scenario.

I am a bit embarassed to admit, I have never watched The Godfather before.
The story is obviously legendary and I knew the premise of the film but was never interested enough to seek it out until I came across this Vanity Fair article written by Mark Segal.

The article is titled The Godfather war, the piece goes beyond the film, it chronicles how broke Mario Puzo was when he sold the rights of his story to the studios and how Coppola had envision the mob story to be a film that focus on the family struggles rather than mindless bloodsheds, he even used the story of the mob as a metaphor of the ruthless Corporate America. Segal just has loads of amazing trivia about the film!

I would strongly recommend you to read the article if you like me, have not seen the Godfather.
It should make you curious enough to go over the edge to the nearest video store to find a copy.

It was a lot of fun when you know most of the people at the party
The bathrooms at GoodGod is still pretty nasty though, the good vibes somehow makes the nausea bearable when you really need to go to the bathroom - actually come to think of it, that is almost the same feeling to all the good club parties I have been to.

Karen O, Horden Pavillion 2010.

Last night I got to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the Horden Pavillion. It was a great show as any fan of YYYs would expect.
There were about 20 other photographers in the pit.
Everyone was pretty civilised and I am pretty sure everyone would have taken some pretty great shots, Karen O & co can hardly go wrong.

I met the guys in These Are Powers while I was in NY.

They were really great, I think I saw them perform at one of the Under the tracks parties, it was my first weekend in town. I told them, I would love to do a shoot with them while I was in town.

It all happened in the last week of my stay and an afternoon of hanging out later, we took a few shots then got some beers, the band van broke down en route to a gig.

We took a detour to parkslope then drove out to the show in another car. It was a pretty surreal day/night

This is the photo, they wanted to use to promote their soon to be released EP called "Candyman"

I heard some samples, it is full of banging party jams!

So stoked things are starting to roll for the TEENS.

Last year, I got to see Animal Collective play at the Enmore

It was quite possibly the best live performance I had seen all year.
They are definitely one of the most exciting bands to watch on the blogosphere as well as on a stage if you ever get the chance, it is definitely worthwhile.

I wanted to try something different with the photos, the lighting was quite erratic but it suited their sound perfectly.
The show was just very very beautiful and memorable.

Mark Gonzales is extraordinarily gifted as an artist and skater. His contribution to the skating world is really hard to articulate. I had totally not realised how forward thinking his technical ability and style was when he was captured on classic skate films.

I was watching the dew tour 09 yesterday... thinking to myself "yeah i have seen most of these tricks before" and the street course has been better designed over the years but I still prefer to watch skating on the street, it just looks way more unpredictable and engaging.

if you haven't seen Gonz skate before, you can happily rejoice on youtube with many old clips to consume.
Prepared to be inspired by the original artist on wheels.

I was trying to look for my copy of Hype!
I still can't find it. Arghhh... I have been watching a load of films lately and reminded me of how much I wanted to see Hype! again after I watched the Metal Doco by Sam Dunn & co.

If you are interested in Seattle and the Grunge movement from early to mid 90s, you should definitely check out the documentary, it is one of the best I have seen about the Grunge movement yet.

Yesterday I watched this doco about Heavy Metal
It is quite insightful and enjoyable.
I am no hardcore metal fan but I do like a few industrial metal bands
The doco is loaded with great interviews and historical accounts of the evolution of the genre from all over the world.
If you are interested in music and culture, I'd highly recommend it.

My friend has recently started a music project
I have taken a few photos at her live shows.
Each projection at her shows are different as it is sync'd to her music.
It is quite extraordinary and visually stunning.
More photos to come.... I was using her camera so I don't have the photos with me to share.

I was talking to Ash on Friday after a very long week.
After chilling at his place for a while, he got me onto Instapaper.
It is quite the handy app.... it is like delicious on your palm.

Anyway, I started to use it today and I came across this interview with Sam McIntosh by Pedestrian
This part was particularly interesting for me....

In your life has there been a job yet that you’ve really hated? From the very start? I was a pedophile's dream before puberty. Started doing a Sunday paper run when I was 10 and then followed with a six day a week run and had a host of friendly ol men who enjoyed a long talk. My work ethic meant I didn't actually hang round too long. Then onto a milk run and then my parents bought a pub. Had a shot at every role in there at some point. Since then, there have been a few small shots at uni but I've been mostly in publishing. Worst job? I don't really mind any kind of work. There's always some monotony in everything and if you're hating it, it's a catalyst to drive you to do something you like.

I feel pretty much the same way minus the pedophile's dream part. The interview is full of interesting and sometimes unbelievable stories, it shows where an idea with hard work and good friends can take you.
